Reasons to Use Chateau Sinnet Grapes:
• All of our fruit is hand
picked.
• We pick the fruit when it is ready, not when
convenient.
• We grow under 4 tons to the acre, even though our
past contracts allowed for 10 tons per acre.
• We never over-crop!
• All of our plants are in their 10th to
13th leaf.
• We have one of the best vineyard managers in the
country, Buster Goodwin.
• We also have an on-site manager who is certified in
growing and applications.
• Our pickers have been with us for many years and are
well trained in the harvesting process.
• We have owls in their houses and use nets, cannons,
scarecrows, water spray, plastic streamers, traps, hand hoes
and plastic owls to minimize the use of pesticides.
• All of our grapes are top clones from UC Davis.
• Most of our grapes are grown on their own rootstock
keeping the grapes true to their own varietals.
• We have plenty of water, so that has never been an
issue. We cut back on water when we need to, not when
we have to.
• We add two extra people to each picking crew to
reduce the amount of mog going into the grapes.
• They say we pick the
cleanest grapes in town.
• We harvest only when the weather is
cool.
• Our rows are 10 feet apart, allowing us to drive
through the vineyard to inspect the grapes on a daily basis.
• Our varietals are grown 6 feet
apart, except for our Zinfandel which is 5 feet, and is
head-pruned in the traditional, old-world style.
We have sold wines to the most award winning wineries as
well as the biggest. We would like to sell our premium
grapes to you. Yields may be low on your own vineyards
because of the late frost, or you might just want to try
another vineyard.
We hand pick everything and pick when the grapes are ripe,
not when it is convenient. The harvest generally
begins the first or second week of September and goes into
late October.
